Firefighting Open Innovation Lab – CILIFO celebrates the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

16.09.2020. This year, 35 years of the Vienna Convention and the 35 years of global protection of the ozone layer are celebrated. «Life on Earth would not be possible without sunlight. But the energy emanating from the sun would be too much for life on Earth to thrive if it weren’t for the ozone layer. This stratospheric layer protects Earth from most of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation. Sunlight makes life possible, but the ozone layer makes life as we know it possible,» according to the United Nations website.. The project «Iberian Center for Forest Fire Research and Fight» (CILIFO)  and its accelerator/incubator,  Firefighting Open Innovation  Lab – CILIFO, support and celebrate the International Dayfor the Preservation of the Ozone Layer as it focuses on the fight against forest firesand their consequences for the adaptation and mitigation of climate change; within a framework of cross-border cooperation for risk prevention and improvement of the management of natural resources in Spain and Portugal in the area of the Alentejo – Algarve – Andalusia Euroregion. In addition, CILIFO is part of POCTEP Thematic Goal 5: Promoting adaptation to climate change in all sectors; and response to investment priority over the POCTEP Programme, 5B: Promoting investment to address specific risks and ensuring adaptation to disasters and the development of disaster management systems. In this year of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought with it so many social and economic difficulties, the message of treaties to save the ozone layer from working together and in harmony for the common good resonates more than ever and becomes a fundamental message these days. «The theme of the day, «Ozone for Life,» recalls that ozone is not only crucial for life on Earth, but we must continue to protect the ozone layer for future generations,» as set out on the website of the United Nations International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. La Comisión Europea lanza una encuesta para desarrollar el primer Plan Estratégico de Horizonte Europa

La Comisión Europea (CE) ha lanzado una encuesta para desarrollar el primer Plan Estratégico de Horizonte Europa, una pieza clave dentro de la Unión Europea para apoyar la investigación y la innovación. La fecha límite para participar es el viernes 18 de septiembre de 2020 a las 18.00h (CEST). La Comisión Europea ha lanzado una encuesta sobre el primer Plan Estratégico de Horizonte Europa, que guiará los programas y temáticas de trabajo para los próximos cuatro años. Además, diseñará un programa de investigación e innovación de la UE que respalde las transiciones ecológicas y digitales para una recuperación sostenible del coronavirus. La Comisión invita a cualquier persona interesada en las prioridades de investigación e innovación de la UE, en cualquier parte del mundo, a participar en la consulta, que se cerrará el 18 de septiembre de 2020. European Commission launches survey to develop first Horizon Europe Strategic Plan

11.09.2020. The European Commission (EC) has launched a survey to develop the first Horizon Europe Strategic Plan, a key piece within the European Union to support research and innovation. The deadline for participation is Friday 18 September 2020 at 18:00 (CEST). The European Commission has launched a survey on the first Horizon Europe Strategic Plan, which will guide the programmes and themes of work for the next four years. In addition, it will design an EU research and innovation programme to support ecological and digital transitions for a sustainable recovery of the coronavirus. The Commission invites anyone interested in the EU’s research and innovation priorities, anywhere in the world, to participate in the consultation, which will close on 18 September 2020. Portugal es uno de los países UE más afectados por los incendios forestales

11.09.2020. Según el Sistema Europeo de Información sobre incendios forestales, Portugal es uno de los países UE más devastado por las llamas. Como cada verano, el fuego no cesa en Portugal. El pasado mes de julio, el Gobierno portugués declaró el estado de alerta durante varios días a causa de diferentes incendios forestales sin controlar, como,  por ejemplo, el de Oleiros donde un bombero perdió la vida durante las tareas de extinción. Portugal es el país de la Unión Europea más devastado por el fuego según los datos ofrecidos por el Sistema Europeo de Información sobre Incendios Forestales. Durante el año pasado, Portugal ha sido la región con el mayor porcentaje de territorio quemado y el quinto en número de hectáreas arrasadas dentro de la Unión Europea. Según la Comisión Europea, durante el año 2017 se perdieron más de medio millón de hectáreas a causa del fuego, colocando al país luso a la cabeza en lo que confiere a superficie quemada (41 %). Entre 1990 y 2017, un 40 % de los 278 municipios continentales han visto quemada un área equivalente a más de la mitad de su territorio. Los municipios más castigados han sido: Cinfães (norte) y Mação (centro) dado que han perdido casi el doble de su área total. Portugal is one of the EU countries most affected by forest fires

11.09.2020. According to the European Forest Fire Information System, Portugal is one of the EU countries most devastated by the flames. As every summer, the fires do not stop in Portugal. Last July, the Portuguese government declared a state of alert for several days due to various uncontrolled forest fires, such as the Oleiros fire in which a fireman lost his life during extinguishing work. Portugal is the most fire-devastated country in the European Union according to the European Forest Fire Information System. During the past year, Portugal has been the region with the highest percentage of burnt territory and the fifth in number of hectares destroyed within the European Union. According to the European Commission, more than half a million hectares were lost to fire in 2017, making Portugal the leading country in terms of area burned (41 %). Between 1990 and 2017, 40 % of the 278 continental municipalities have seen an area equivalent to more than half of their territory burned. The most affected municipalities have been: Cinfães (north) and Mação (centre) as they have lost almost twice their total area. Subvenciones a municipios y entidades locales autónomas de Andalucía, destinadas al mantenimiento de las Agrupaciones Locales del Voluntariado de Protección Civil

Se ha abierto la convocatoria para la concesión de subvenciones a municipios y entidades locales autónomas de la Comunidad Autónoma de Andalucía, en régimen de concurrencia competitiva, destinadas al mantenimiento de las Agrupaciones Locales del Voluntariado de Protección Civil.   Beneficiarios: Podrán acogerse los municipios y entidades locales autónomas de Andalucía que cuenten con agrupaciones inscritas en el Registro de las Agrupaciones Locales del Voluntariado de Protección Civil de la Comunidad Autónoma de Andalucía. La agrupación del municipio o entidad local autónoma solicitante debe estar inscrita en el Registro de las Agrupaciones Locales del Voluntariado de Protección Civil de la Comunidad Autónoma de Andalucía a la fecha de la publicación de la convocatoria de subvenciones.   Gastos subvencionables: 1.La suscripción y pago de la póliza del seguro de accidentes y enfermedad y responsabilidad civil. 2.Los gastos de formación de las personas integrantes de las Agrupaciones. 3.La adquisición de uniformidad del voluntariado y material menor complementario. 4.Material inventariable para el desarrollo de las funciones de actuación en el ámbito del apoyo operativo. 5.Material inventariable para el desarrollo de las funciones de actuación en el ámbito de la prevención.   Cuantía: Las subvenciones concedidas para el mantenimiento de las Agrupaciones Locales del Voluntariado de Protección Civil se financiarán, en el ejercicio 2020, siendo la cuantía total máxima destinada de 393.862,04 euros.   Organismo:  D. The call for the granting of subsidies to municipalities and autonomous local entities of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, on a competitive basis, for the maintenance of the Local Civil Protection Volunteer Groups has been opened.   Beneficiaries: The municipalities and autonomous local entities of Andalusia that have groups registered in the Register of Local Civil Protection Volunteer Groups of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia may apply. The group of the applicant municipality or autonomous local entity must be registered in the Register of Local Civil Protection Volunteer Groups of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia at the date of publication of the call for subsidies. Eligible expenditure: 1.The subscription and payment of the accident and health and civil liability insurance policy. Training costs for the members of the groupings. 3. The purchase of uniforms for the volunteers and additional minor equipment. 4. Inventory material for the development of action functions in the field of operational support. 5.Inventoryable material for the development of action functions in the field of prevention.
